how to heal the sick

Renew Your Mind

Know your identity and authority in Jesus.
    We are at war.
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. (Eph 6:12)
    • Jesus was sent to destroy the works of the devil (1 Jn 3:8).
    • YOU are sent to destroy the works of the devil! (Jn 20:21
    • All sickness, affliction, ailment, disease, and demon is from the devil (Acts 10:38, Lk 13:16, Jn 10:10). Also, Jesus healed them ALL (it's God's will to heal the sick), and God's Kingdom is not divided! Read this and this!
You have a green light until you get a red light!
"GO therefore and make disciples of all nations..." (Matt 28:19
"And proclaim as you GO, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.' Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay." (Matt 10:7-8)
"GO into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation." (Mk 16:15)

    The How-to Part
    • Put your hand(s) on the person if possible, however, this step is not absolutely necessary. Make sure you ask first. Example: "Can I put my hand on your shoulder?" Don't put your hands in an inappropriate place. If you struggle with discernment here, have them rest their hands in yours, or don't lay hands at all.
    • Speak to the thing like it's a person, and command it to go, to be healed, to be made whole, etc. Command it to do what you want it to. This is how we exercise our authority. Example, "Pain, go! In Jesus' Name!" or, "Wrist, be made whole, right now, in Jesus' Name!" etc.
    • Ask the person to check and see if the problem is still there. If it's not there, thank God for what He did! If it is there, I usually ask them to put their pain on a scale from 1-10, and ask them where it was before and where it's at now. Thank God for any decrease!
    • Don't give up! Remember, this is war and satan has attacked and harassed the person you're praying for.  As an ambassador of the kingdom, you're there to set them free! Pray again expecting results. Always thank God for any progress!
    • Tell them to change the way they think because the Kingdom of God is so close that you can reach out and touch it! (See next section for more information on this).

    Proclaiming the Kingdom
"From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, 'Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.' " (Matt 4:17)
"And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction." (Matt 9:35)

    Repentance:

Repentance is an essential element to the message Jesus preached. Repentance means to change one's mind, or to turn around -- to turn away from sin and towards God. The demand for repentance draws a clear line in the sand. This makes the difference between merely offerring the kingdom, and proclaiming the kingdom. Jesus put people at a choice. He essentially said, "If you want in the kingdom, you need to repent." There is no neutral ground.

    The Gospel of the Kingdom.

The word kingdom refers to the king's domain, and the word gospel means good news. Therefore, the gospel of the kingdom of God, is really the good news of the rule and reign of God

Jesus said the "kingdom of heaven is at hand." A contemporary translation: "The kingdom is so close you can reach out and touch it!"

Jesus is saying that it's within reach! There's an urgency here, an electricity in the air, an excitement in the message. It's not far off, out of reach, for another time. Instead, it's right here - under our noses. It's not just a place Jesus' disciples go after death, it's right here right now!

    Healing every disease and affliction.

Often, the proclaiming of the message of the kingdom and healing, signs, and wonders went hand in hand. This is a pattern we see in the life of Jesus, and the life of the apostles after Jesus' ascension. Paul reports in 1 Cor 4:20, "For the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power." And again in 1 Cor 2:3-5, that he didn't come with eloquent speech but in demonstration of the Spirit's power, so that their faith would not rest in men's wisdom but God's power. Paul, apparently, thought it very important that people have an encounter with the power of God.

Proclaiming the kingdom in a nutshell:

Here's essentially what we need to do to proclaim the same message Jesus did. We need our message to include the following (not necessarily in this order or with these words):
    1. A call to repentance: "It's time to change your mind and turn from sin..."
    2. The good news: "For I have good news! The rule and the reign of God is so close you can reach out and touch it! The kingdom of heaven is here!"
    3. Signs and wonders: "Here, let me prove it to you..." Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons (Matt 10:7-8).
This is the complete package. A message without signs and wonders is just words, and signs and wonders without a message is just a show.

Have fun advancing the kingdom and destroying the words of the devil! Jesus is with you always (Matt 28:20)!
