simple church

As Christianity exploded in the first century, the new disciples began to meet in small, family-like gatherings. In these gatherings, they honored Christ as the Head – not only of their lives, but also as the Master of Ceremonies in their Spirit-filled meetings. They trusted Him to move and lead the meeting by His Spirit according to His will. They shared Scriptures, songs, prophetic words, testimonies, hope, love, and each other’s burdens in these meetings. They loved and honored each other, recognizing that the Body is diverse and made up of many people with various giftings. They also recognized the five-fold ministry of the Church: apostles, prophets, pastors, evangelists, and teachers, recognizing these functions not as offices, but instead as organic roles that people naturally filled as they lived the Jesus-life. When they met, they prayed, worshiped, laughed, shared meals, and partook of communion together.

These meetings might be considered squad-like, war-units; an assembling of the soldiers of the Kingdom of God. They were a place of mutual edification and upbuilding, where King Jesus was in command. These meetings were places to build others up and support them in advancing the Kingdom of God wherever they were at.

Today, these same home-groups are exploding across the world! China, India, Africa, South America, and the West! We encourage you to get plugged into a gathering near you, and grow into Christ like you never have before.
